Accessibility statement

What we've done to keep this site usable for everyone, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us when we've got it wrong.

Last updated: 10 September 2026

One item still to confirm. Everything this page says about the website was built and tested. The three-business-day response time at the foot of the page is a proposed commitment — confirm you can meet it, or change the number.

Under The Sea Aquarium Marketplace wants undertheseanc.com and our store at 3816 Sardis Church Rd in Monroe to work for people with disabilities. This page is an honest account of where we are, not a badge.

Standard we're working to

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The site was rebuilt in 2026 with that target from the start rather than retrofitted.

What we've built in

  • Keyboard — every link, button, form field, the mobile menu and the gallery viewer can be reached and operated by keyboard. Focus order follows the visual order, and focus indicators are always visible and never removed.
  • Skip link — a “Skip to main content” link is the first thing in the tab order on every page.
  • Contrast — body text, headings, links and interface controls meet or exceed the 4.5:1 (text) and 3:1 (controls) minimums, in both the dark and light sections of the site.
  • Images — every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text. Decorative images and icons are hidden from screen readers so they don't add noise.
  • Forms — every field has a visible label, not just a placeholder. Errors appear next to the field they belong to, are announced to screen readers, and a linked summary appears at the top after a failed submission.
  • Motion — if your system is set to reduce motion, animations, the scroll reveals and the cursor-following goldfish on the home page are all switched off. The background video is muted, has no audio track and carries no information.
  • Text size — the layout holds together when text is enlarged, and page zoom is never disabled.
  • Touch targets — interactive controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels with spacing between them.
  • Structure — headings run in order, landmarks are labelled, and the livestock list announces result counts as you search and filter.
  • Colour — nothing on the site relies on colour alone to convey meaning.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies and we do not control their accessibility:

  • Square appointment booking — used for the “Book maintenance” buttons.
  • JotForm job application — used for “Apply now”.
  • Google Maps embed on the contact page.

If any of these get in your way, call us on 980-328-0000 and we will book your appointment, take your application or give you directions over the phone. You will never be worse off for not using them.

The client gallery is a large set of photographs. Each has descriptive alternative text, but photographs of aquariums are inherently visual and the descriptions cannot fully replace them.

In the store

Getting in is step-free from the parking lot — no steps or kerb between a parking space and our front door.

We have not yet documented the rest of the showroom: whether the floor is level throughout, how wide the aisles are, and what the restroom facilities are. We would rather say that plainly than guess. If any of it matters for your visit, call 980-328-0000 before you travel and we will go and check it for you.

And whether or not you call ahead — if you need help reaching something, carrying something, or would like a member of staff to walk you through the livestock, just ask.

Tell us when something doesn't work

If you hit a barrier on this site or in the store, we want to know. Tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way, along with the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it.
